(CNN) -- Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will suspend his bid for the Republican presidential nomination, GOP sources tell CNN.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is expected to suspend his campaign Thursday, sources say.

A candidate may "suspend" his or her campaign rather than dropping out, and technically remain a candidate. In this case, he or she is entitled to keep any statewide pledged delegates as well as their district-level delegates.

Candidates who officially drop out must forfeit statewide delegates.

Huckabee's Message: "A more sellable product"

There's a recent article up on the CBS News website with a great quote from Mike regarding the effectiveness of his campaign compared to others:

...Meantime, Huckabee said he had raised an additional $3.5 million in January after starting the year with just over $650,000 on hand. He emphasized how much the campaign had done with so little money. Huckabee also skewered Romney for spending “tens of millions of dollars to have the same market share as me.”

“Under anybody’s business model, that’s not a very efficient or effective operation,” he said. “If you have an MBA from Harvard, and you believe in trying to figure out the best way to build market share and you spend an enormous amount of money and you have a competitor that spends a very small amount of money, but he’s able to reach the same market share, it may say that that person has a more sellable product than you do. So maybe it would be appropriate to go out of business and merge your business with the one that has the more efficient model."

The Huckabee campaign website was updated today with some very useful new features. The campaign has a new interactive online tool that helps supporters make phone calls into Florida. Check out the new feature on MikeHuckabee.com:

Once logged in as a Ranger, the tool shows the caller a list of voters to call, their phone numbers, and a form to fill out with some simple information about the calls. A script is provided to aid in the phone calls. Talking points on many of the issues are all on the page so that callers can be prepared for questions.

This is a great way for folks from Wisconsin to be directly involved in the campaign from inside your own home! The Huckabee team really has done a great job on this, providing the tools for volunteers to connect with voters across the country. This is truly an effective e-campaign!

While Newt has remained neutral in the race, his criticism has been dispersed equally among all the candidates running. The Huckabee connection? In December, it had been reported that Newt's spokesman, Rick Tyler, took a 1 month leave of absence to assist the Huckabee campaign thru the Iowa caucuses. Newt has made frequent visits to Wisconsin in the past year. Last spring and summer he headlined the WMC convention in Madison and the Wisconsin Club for Growth conference in Waukesha. Weeks preceding the '06 elections, Newt hosted a reception for congressional candidate John Gard in Green Bay. The Wall Street Journal joined the growing list of news outlets detailing the 'brokered convention' storyline. They, too, assert that Wisconsin may matter.

With no presidential front-runner in either party after two more state contests over the weekend, Democrats and Republicans are mobilizing for what few have confronted: fighting delegate by delegate instead of state by state, in a battle that could grind on to the late-summer conventions.

Now campaigns are planning beyond Super Tuesday, to neighbors Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., Feb. 12 and Wisconsin a week later.

A Split Decision on Super Tuesday?

As Super Tuesday approaches, it seems that we are no closer to a clearly defined front runner in the GOP race for the White House.

Mike's competing for the lead with 3 other candidates in Florida over the next 8 days, and then it's on to Super Tuesday. It was expected that Super Tuesday would clear up the field - and we would have a better feel for whom the nominee might be. However, it appears that the Republican race is still very much up in the air.

Time Magazine has an interesting article that discusses how the delegate votes could be split on Super Tuesday this year in the GOP race.

Assuming these predictions are reasonable... we can plan for a pretty important primary here in Wisconsin for the GOP race. Let's continue to get Mike's message out to voters in Wisconsin as our primary nears - less than 1 month away!

According to the Mike Huckabee campaign, there a couple events scheduled for this Saturday in Grand Rapids, MI. Seems like this might be a chance for some Wisconsinites to travel across the Lake and see the man whom we're supporting in person. Does that Lake Express still run these days?

As the January 15th Michigan primary approaches, Mike has scheduled several stops in our neighboring state. Let's hope that Michigan can give Mike a nice boost and continue to propel him further out into the lead across the Nation.

Google Trends: Huckabee and Obama surge in Wisconsin Google searches

Jesse Russel of dane101.com posted an interesting article that shows that Wisconsinites have been googling Mike Huckabee.

On the Republican side Mike Huckabee has surpassed Google searches for Paul and has left all of the other contenders in the dust. Mitt Romney is the only one receiving enough Google searches in our state to even appear on the trend graph. In fairness, Fred Thompson did make a blip when he announced last year, but has since dropped off the graph.

Huckabee Makes a Stop in Wisconsin?

In a blog posting shortly after Mike's win in Iowa, the Baltimore Sun's website had a picture of Huckabee on a plane headed out of Des Moines, looking relaxed, celebrating his victory.

The article indicates that he was on a plane to New Hampshire. However, take a close look at that picture. If you're in Wisconsin, and fly out of Milwaukee at all, you'll recognize what airline he's flying on. Leather seats? The attendant's outfit? My guess is that he had a warm chocolate chip cookie to go along with his diet pepsi later on in that flight. :) Mmmmm... those cookies are so good.

So if Mike Huckabee was on a Midwest flight out of Des Moines... could he have stopped here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to catch a connecting flight? I would pose that it's not only possible, but probable. If you look at the Midwest Airlines route maps, you'll find that Midwest Connect only flies to Milwaukee out of Des Moines.

So there you have it. My guess is that Mike Huckabee "visited" Wisconsin right after winning Iowa. Hopefully we'll be seeing a lot more of him in the very near future.

UPDATE: The Wall Street Journal makes reference to Huckabee taking a propeller plane for the first leg of his journey to New Hampshire. Anyone who's flown Midwest Connect knows that a lot of the short flights into MKE are on those small puddle jumpers.

Mr. Huckabee was savoring his victory in his late-night flight to New Hampshire. His campaign went from a propeller plane to a Boeing 737 with wide leather seats and a 30-person press corps. He said the Iowa caucus was "like one of those very special desserts in life -- you just want to inhale every last bit of it."

University of Wisconsin Poll shows Huckabee leads Romney

The University of Wisconsin Survey Center released results of a poll today that indicates Mike Huckabee is leading Romney here in Wisconsin. There is a lot of room to move up as we get closer to the Wisconsin primaries in February.

Republican Nomination Contest
Fred Thompson 30%
Rudy Giuliani 25%
John McCain 15%
Mike Huckabee 8%
Mitt Romney 5%
Ron Paul 4%

Perhaps the even more interesting piece is the number of people that don't have enough information to know if they like Mike or not. We need to get Mike's message out to voters in Wisconsin in the next couple of months.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows a new national leader in the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination. While enjoying an amazing surge, Mike Huckabee has earned support from 20% of Likely Republican Primary Voters nationwide. Three points back, at 17%, is Rudy Giuliani. That’s the lowest level of support ever recorded for Giuliani in the tracking poll and represents a seven-point decline over the past week. Huckabee was considered a very long shot candidate throughout most of 2007 and some pundits still place him in that category. However, he is currently a frontrunner in Iowa, essentially tied for second in New Hampshire, and has pulled to within a few points of Rudy Giuliani in national polling.

Mike Huckabee got some praise recently from Outdoor Life Magazine. The hunting and fishing magazine with more than 5 million readers named Huckabee one of the 25 "most positively influential people in hunting and fishing." He was the only presidential candidate to make the list.

Governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007, Mike Huckabee, 51, is an avid angler and hunter and a 2008 Republican presidential candidate. Just months into his governorship, Huckabee helped pass Amendment 75, "The Conservation Amendment." This amendment to the state constitution designated that 1/8 of 1 percent of the state's general sales tax go to four agencies, including the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC).

“I am proud to announce the addition of Tim Michels as Chairman of my Wisconsin Leadership Committee,” Huckabee said. “He is a highly motivated manager, distinguished military veteran, and a strong supporter of common sense, conservative values.”

Tim Michels is Co-owner of Michels Corporation, a diversified heavy construction company employing nearly 3000 people located in Brownsville, Wisconsin. The company specializes in building energy, communications, and transportation infrastructure throughout North America. In addition, Michels has 12 years active duty service as an Airborne Ranger Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army where he earned the rank of Major. He is also a former Commander of the Army’s elite Honor Guard.

“I am honored to be on the Huckabee team and serve as his Wisconsin Campaign Chairman. For the past year, I have been watching the field of Republican candidates develop. Sometime in the middle of the summer, I discovered Mike Huckabee. After checking into him and his campaign, I decided that he was my guy. I have been supporting him ever since. I know that Mike is the best guy for the job in 2008. I have created this blog as a way to gather an disseminate information regarding support for Mike right here in Wisconsin. It seems that many of the people I have talked to know very little about Mike and his campaign. I hope to help spread the word and conjure up some supporters here in the Badger State.
